Q & AWhat do the librarians do here?
Besides the librarians day to day duties, they also plan and implement programs for children, youth and adults. Is the environment age and developmentally appropriate for children under the age of 5? From my observations I will agree that area dedicated to children is age appropriate, however I feel its too small of a space and does not allow for any extra activities besides reading, which will help and encourage children to learn and grow. What kind of programs are offered here for children under 5? The library offers programs for children such as Tots n Tow, Reading Clubs, and Junior Kindergarten Activities. How often do these programs run and who attends? Reading clubs run every winter, summer, and March Break and children aged 3-12 are able to attend with registration. The Tots n Tow program is for children 3-5 who attend with their parents every third week of the month. The Junior Kidergarten program happens 1 day a week, every 3 weeks, and is onoing throughout the school year. What sorts of activities are the children engaging in while participating in these ativities? Each session is nationally themed across all librarys in Ontario, and result in the children making a craft and sometimes story telling with a possible activity to follow. The J/K program provides another environment for local J/K classes to come and participate in the library's crafts, story telling, reading, and activities. This also helps them learn the rules of the library. |
